Split the Check reads a photo of a receipt and helps a group work out who owes what.
When you take or upload a receipt photo, the app sends it to our server, which passes it to Google's Gemini API to read the items and prices and returns them to the app. The photo is used only to read the receipt and is not stored on our server. We use Google's paid API tier, under which Google does not use your requests to improve its products. Google may keep requests for a limited time to detect abuse, as described in the Gemini API terms.
Names you add, the current bill, and any Venmo usernames you enter are saved only on your device. They are never sent to us or anyone else. Deleting the app deletes them.
The Venmo button creates a text message containing a Venmo link with an amount filled in. Split the Check does not process payments and has no access to your Venmo account. Payments happen entirely in the Venmo app, under Venmo's own privacy policy.
No accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking.
The camera is used only when you tap Camera to photograph a receipt. You can turn off access at any time in Settings → Split Check → Camera.
Split the Check is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
